CO2ONIALISM in the EXTRACTOCENE
In October of 2019, I published an essay on Co2onialism in the Extractocene in “Issue 10: HER<e>TECH” of Women’s Eco Artists Dialogue. As guest editor of the issue, I had been planning to write commentary on a few of the creative and practical re-framings and re-imaginings of technology being created by artists around the world. Women’s Eco Artists Dialogue is a journal on environmental art and environmental issues. Over the period of editing the journal, environmental groups were once again in the news for racist actions, so I wrote this commentary on the need for the movement to address and end this internal violence.
I did light edits on this piece as it was going to be reprinted in a second environmental journal. In the meantime, the essay is posted here as a PDF.
