The projects asks, can we think differently about new artificial or synthetic intelligence systems and platforms? Can we subvert these systems, and imagine and create other futures?

In The Return, Chat GPT and Suno AI introduced me to the concept of “Artifecal Intelligence,” while exploring how elements of the conversation by executives of the tech world about synthetic vs. human intelligence are bringing back a Nature/Culture divide. I am working to understand this differentiation between artificial and artifecal intelligence, and how this intersects with nature/culture binaries, more fully.

Technologies of life are based on nixtamalization, an Indigenous technology developed thousands of years ago to increase the nutritional value of corn. Nixtamalization is practiced to this day and is not based on extraction, does not replicate colonial histories, and is not destructive to physical and psychical global life.

Nixtamalízaté-té-té is a play on Calle-13’s song Atrévete-te-te (which in English is “be daring”), and extends this challenge to BE DARING to the worlds of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Large Language Models. Together we can subvert capitalist and military uses of AI and become beautiful pluriversal monsters.
Nixtamalízaté-té-té shares some of the possibilities and limitations of this work to create a technological pluriverse. It is the latest work in the larger multi-modal art project, The Techno-Tamaladas.
