THIS SERIES HAS BEEN POSTPONED. Stay tuned for updates. Pro ARTS Gallery is introducing a new slow tech MAKER SPACE to share sustainable practices. This project will focus on disruptive technologies, sustainability, the commons, skill sharing, d.i.y. culture, cooperation, and co-production. The co-founder and director of this project is multi-disciplinary artist, technologist, and maker Praba Pilar.
Our first workshop series will be on Slow Fashion. Fashion and textile production are extremely damaging to the environment and grotesquely abusive to human labor. In this series, we will learn practical and material ways to get out of that damaging cycle. All levels of sewing experience invited – no sewing experience necessary. The series will take place on four Saturdays in April - the 6, 13, 20, 27, 2019, from 3-6pm at Pro Arts Gallery in downtown Oakland.
